My Journey Down (to) the Poll: Take 5.

Short blog today. Just wanted to emphasize the importance of today.

While today may not be a Presidential election, it is still highly important that every one gets out and votes. It was surprising to me how many young people I have encountered that said they would not vote today. Today will definitely set the tone of what is to happen in the 2012 election.

Voting for me has never been an option considering I am an African-American woman. I refuse to let the women and black people before me turn over in their grave. They worked hard, as did many others, for my freedom and just as hard for me to be able to have the right to vote. So many people don’t truly realize the impact they can have on this country by voting.

With that being said, I will be voting today after class, and encourage you all to join me!

Remember, if you don’t vote, you can’t complain about the outcome.
