I’ve had Born Sinner by hip-hop artist J. Cole on repeat all weekend and I can’t stop listening to it. I like all of the songs but there are only a few that I love; “Niggaz Know” is one of them. I love this song because it addresses the idea that people change whether they want to or not.
I must confess, I copped the chains
I hit the club, I made it rain
I hit the road, I made a name
I came home, I ain’t the same
He speaks about the beginning of his career and how he went from a country kid with bad credit and college loans to packing shows and hitting hood chicks from Baltimore. Did he want to change? No. But it is inevitable with his career and new lifestyle.
Confession time: he did everything he said he would never do. But that’s just how it is.
Everyone says that will never do blah, blah, blah if they had a different lifestyle – truth is, you really don’t know what you would do until you’re faced with those circumstances. All you can do is be real with yourself and the people around you and let them know that – yes, I have changed. That’s exactly what J. Cole did on this track.
Check it out and let me know what you think:
