Vine has been around and popular for some time now and at first I refused to use the app because I wasn’t sure how long it would stick around. After seeing so many people including celebrities and my own friends use the application, I decided I had to try it out and see what the hype was all about.
What is Vine?
“Share life in motion” is the way the company describes this iPhone app. Users (iPhone users only at this time) can create an extremely short video sharing whatever it is they like. Some users make what I call “one-take” videos, while others make it choppy and funny by creating and telling stories.
Vine is set up a lot like Instagram. There is a timeline of Vines with the people you follow, there is a popular page where you can see other Vine users, and there is a section for a profile description. You can also tag people in your Vines and use #hashtags in your post.
Is Vine here to stay?
This is the question I want to pose to everyone. The app is genius in itself! Creating short stories as a social media application? Perfection! Giving users the ability to share their Vines on Twitter and Facebook? Awesome! However, I am wondering about the longevity of this app.
It is extremely popular now and has everything users can think of but how will they continue to update, evolve, and recreate this app? How will they make sure that there is no one else that can create an app similar and/or BETTER than this?
How will they stay in the game? Will they take a billion dollar deal by linking up with a big name like Instagram did with Facebook?
They could partner with YouTube or Vimeo!
Overall, I think this app is great and I don’t have the answer of whether it is here to stay or just another fad yet. That is where you come in!
What do you think?
