I have been hearing a lot of controversial views about Lady GaGa from the day she first hit the mainstream. From criticizing her about her fashion to her choice of topics in her songs. & how can we forget her infamous “this is for God and the gays” line? I have always been a GaGa fan simply because I adore her creativity, and her songs are always catchy (except for “Born This Way” I’m not really feeling that one).
When I first heard “Judas”, I loved it! “Judas” is definitely GAGA – unlike “Born This Way”. But after listening to the song again….again…again…and again, there is just something slightly off about it.
I am a Christian woman, but I am not completely familiar with EVERY aspect of the Bible. I did not grow up on the Bible so I am always learning new things day by day.
Recently I was reminded that Judas was the one who betrayed Jesus..
This immediately set off a red flag for me, as well as other people from what I have seen. If Judas betrayed Jesus, why are we writing songs about him and saying we love him??
But I couldn’t just judge the song without reading the lyrics first. So with the help of Metro Lyrics (http://www.metrolyrics.com) I did my own analysis of the song and I have came to two conclusions. Either A. Lady GaGa has completely lost her mind and I will pray for her. Or B. She is extremely creative and has once again cause an uproar over merely nothing.
In the most Biblical sense,
I am beyond repentance
Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind
But in the cultural sense
I just speak in future tense
Judas kiss me if offensed,
Or wear ear condom next time
To me, this verse is saying: if you are taking this literally and putting in revelance to the Bible, then I am wrong and I will never be forgiven. But if you understand what I am trying to say, good. To all who don’t like it, don’t listen (hence the “ear condom”).
The way I am portraying the song is: She is in love with a complete heartless jerk that she cannot seem to get away from. She knows she should leave him alone and be with a good man (Jesus) but she just can’t seem to escape this guys bad boy image (Judas – and in the video he is in a biker gang). I come to that conclusion because of this line:
I wanna love you,
But something’s pulling me away from you
Jesus is my virtue,
Judas is the demon I cling to
I cling to
Maybe I am completely wrong about this and I am simply trying to rationalize this song because I like Lady GaGa. IDK! Watch it for yourself and tell me what YOU think!
