Music Monday | “Applause” – Lady GaGa

Happy Music Monday! Here is where you will find the latest in underground artist and popular culture.

I did not intend to have two Music Monday blogs today but the best laid plans often go awry.

music monday - lady gagaPop icon Lady GaGa released a new video this morning that I had to share! I feel like we have all been wondering, “where’s GaGa?” and now here she is! Back and better than ever.

Pop culture was in art, now art’s in pop culture in me

In this song GaGa is doing along with her “fame” aspect. Do it for the fame and for applauseisn’t that the point? Her twisted outfit choices and imagery are still extremely prominent in this video but it seems like Mother Monster has become even more twisted. There is really no way to explain GaGa. She is one of those artist that you have to see to believe.

Check out the video and let me know what you think:

WTH is GaGa talking about?

I have been hearing a lot of controversial views about Lady GaGa from the day she first hit the mainstream. From criticizing her about her fashion to her choice of topics in her songs. & how can we forget her infamous “this is for God and the gays” line? I have always been a GaGa fan simply because I adore her creativity, and her songs are always catchy (except for “Born This Way” I’m not really feeling that one).

When I first heard “Judas”, I loved it! “Judas” is definitely GAGA – unlike “Born This Way”. But after listening to the song again….again…again…and again, there is just something slightly off about it.

I am a Christian woman, but I am not completely familiar with EVERY aspect of the Bible. I did not grow up on the Bible so I am always learning new things day by day.

Recently I was reminded that Judas was the one who betrayed Jesus..

This immediately set off a red flag for me, as well as other people from what I have seen. If Judas betrayed Jesus, why are we writing songs about him and saying we love him?? o_O

But I couldn’t just judge the song without reading the lyrics first. So with the help of Metro Lyrics (http://www.metrolyrics.com) I did my own analysis of the song and I have came to two conclusions. Either A. Lady GaGa has completely lost her mind and I will pray for her. Or B. She is extremely creative and has once again cause an uproar over merely nothing.

In the most Biblical sense,
I am beyond repentance
Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind
But in the cultural sense
I just speak in future tense
Judas kiss me if offensed,
Or wear ear condom next time

To me, this verse is saying: if you are taking this literally and putting in revelance to the Bible, then I am wrong and I will never be forgiven. But if you understand what I am trying to say, good. To all who don’t like it, don’t listen (hence the “ear condom”).

The way I am portraying the song is: She is in love with a complete heartless jerk that she cannot seem to get away from. She knows she should leave him alone and be with a good man (Jesus) but she just can’t seem to escape this guys bad boy image (Judas – and in the video he is in a biker gang). I come to that conclusion because of this line:

I wanna love you,
But something’s pulling me away from you
Jesus is my virtue,
Judas is the demon I cling to
I cling to

Maybe I am completely wrong about this and I am simply trying to rationalize this song because I like Lady GaGa. IDK! Watch it for yourself and tell me what YOU think!
