Music Monday | Nicki Throws Shade at Iggy Azalea: Fact or fiction?

Unless you’re living under a rock, I’m sure you either heard via your twitter timeline or watched the BET Awards last night.

I only peeped it for one reason: Nicki Minaj.

While I missed her performance, I did not miss her winning Best Female Hip Hop Artist for the fifth time.

If you’re a fan of Nicki, one thing you know about the Nickster is that she is not afraid to speak her mind and throw a little shade.

Usually when she says “no shade” or something of that sort she means it on the super low key. But I find the term “no shade” to transfer to “HELLA SHADE! I just don’t want to call anybody out because that’s #noneofmybusiness.”

While accepting her award and giving the longest acceptance speech of all time, she says:

“One thing about Nicki Minaj, if Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it.”

Is it a coincidence that she accepted this award shortly after Iggy Azalea performed?

Now let’s be clear here: I love Iggy. I do. I follow her on twitter so I mean come on! However, she has always had an awkward funky flow with “so so” lyrical talent hat I grew to appreciate because it was her. That was her style.

Remember PU$$Y? That was Iggy. And I appreciated it.

Her recent song with T.I. titled No Mediocre made me question if in fact Tip was “assisting” the Australian beauty with her lyrics.

Maybe Iggy is getting better lyrically? Could be! As an artist isn’t that the goal? To get better lyrically? Yes? No? I don’t know.

All I know is, when I heard Iggy’s verse on No Mediocre my eyebrow raised beyond my control. I was thinking:

How TF does Iggy go from rapping off beat to killing a verse?

Nicki has been in the game for a while and I have been rocking with her since about 2007. She has always had the same flow. Same hardcore “I run this” attitude. Even when she was doing pop music.

Do you think it’s a fact or is it fiction that T.I. is ghost writing for Iggly Azalea? Let me know what you think!

By the way, I’m going to just leave this right here….

Nicki is back and ready for war!

Happy Music Monday! Here you will find the latest in popular music every Monday.

nicki minaj - glamour mag3Nicki Minaj has decided to return from her music hiatus and get back on scene. She took a short break and during that time she was a judge on American Idol, her clothing line is moving and making progress, and her perfume has many editions. Anyone that knows me, knows that I’ve been rocking with Nicki since “The Come Up” so you know I’m excited!

One of her return debuts was being featured on Ciara‘s “I’m Out” where she murdered…like slaughtered the entire song. Honestly, if Nicki was not on this song, I’m not sure if it would have been as good.

The thing I love about the Nickster (yes, we’re tight enough for me to give her a nickname) on this track is that she was BRAGGING!

“Big fat a** and big d**** follow!”

Like what? Stop it. But I love the attitude.

She also has a sappy track with singer Mario titled “Somebody Else” where she’s rapping about relationship issues. I love this track because it’s very real. Admitting that you’re salty because your lover left you for another person. Don’t cry, Mario, happens to the best of us.

How do I know Nicki is gearing up for war?

Because I know her.

Think back to 2011 before Pink Friday dropped. Nicki was on every body’s song! She had feature after feature after feature. From Kanye West and DJ Khaled to David Guetta. Baby girl was working! All of this was building the buzz for the drop of her first album.

Now she’s already on multiple songs that are out right now so you know she’s in the studio doing more features and brewing up another album. She recently put up a video on Instagram of a song that is her featuring someone who sounds like Future. Check it out >

Nicki has had doubters from the first day she stepped on the scene. Due to that, she always delivers fire. Always! I have a feeling this next album is going to be crazy!
