Throwback Thursday | “Baby, you wouldn’t last a minute…” – Chiodos

It’s been awhile but the wait is so worth it.

This. Song. Is. Life.

I heard this song when I was a freshmen in high school and it remains on my list of favorite songs to this day! Is Chiodos still around?

We say what we feel then we stop ourselves and just walk away. Never looking back, loving every second of it, we just walk away.

This song is the ultimate bitter break up song. Dumping/or getting dumped by someone sucks no matter what end of the spectrum you’re on. What better way to handle it than ignoring everything you have said, everything you have done, and never looking back? Right? According to Chiodos that was the way to go! But, then again….how can you really just forget everything and pretend it never happened. Now you see the dilemma they’re singing about?

I can remember this song getting me through A LOT! Artist may never understand how powerful a hook can be. AND for those who are not a fan of screamo, like my mother wasn’t, the song even comes in a beautiful acoustic version.

Check out the song and let me know what you think:

Throwback Thursday | “Everything is Everything”

“Adjacent to the King; fear no human being.”

Ya’ll can say what you want about Lauryn Hill and her legal troubles but there is no way you can deny how talented of an artist this woman is. How do I still know nearly every lyric of “Killing Me Softly” and “Ex-Factor” when I could not have been older than ten years old when the songs released? I do not know. Lauryn Hill’s music is timeless. The “Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” still sounds brand new – it will never get old.

I wrote these words for everyone
Who struggles in their youth
Who won’t accept deception
Instead of what is truth

The song I have chosen today is Lauryn Hill’s “Everything is Everything”. This song is the anthem of two simple words: move on. No matter what you’re going through you have to move on because time will not wait for you. After winter must come spring. Turn your negative thoughts into positive ones and move forward with your life.
