Throwback Thursday | “Everything is Everything”

“Adjacent to the King; fear no human being.”

Ya’ll can say what you want about Lauryn Hill and her legal troubles but there is no way you can deny how talented of an artist this woman is. How do I still know nearly every lyric of “Killing Me Softly” and “Ex-Factor” when I could not have been older than ten years old when the songs released? I do not know. Lauryn Hill’s music is timeless. The “Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” still sounds brand new – it will never get old.

I wrote these words for everyone
Who struggles in their youth
Who won’t accept deception
Instead of what is truth

The song I have chosen today is Lauryn Hill’s “Everything is Everything”. This song is the anthem of two simple words: move on. No matter what you’re going through you have to move on because time will not wait for you. After winter must come spring. Turn your negative thoughts into positive ones and move forward with your life.

Throwback Thursday | “Swim Good” – Frank Ocean

There are few artist that I have ever heard that have such a calming voice and one of them is Frank Ocean. Channel Orange released last year and yet I still listen to it on constant repeat.

His singe “Swim Good” has suddenly been one of my favorite songs to listen to and I could (and do) for hourssss.

Broken hearts make the best muses.

This song has so much hurt in it yet it is so beautifully sung. I am utterly OBSESSED with this song (and Frank Ocean) so I had to share it.

Take a look at the video, listen to the lyrics, and let me know what you think:
